Hey there. We wanted to take you on a tour of our favorite neighborhood in Northwest Seattle. We are in Broadview!
Broadview! And it is called Broadview because it has broad views of the Sound. So we are going to jet around, look at a few awesome spots where you can take in the awesome views of the Sound and the mountains and come along.
[Sandra] Hey Steve, so where are we?
Well Sandra, you know where we’re at. We’re on my favorite street in Seattle. This is Blakeley Court and all of these homes have expansive views of Puget Sound and the Olympics. And I love this street because the homes on this side are lower and the homes on the opposite side are higher. So everybody has a protected view of mountain and Sound.
Hey, so here we are. Secret entrance.
To the Carkeek.
Yeah, it’s a cool little entrance here. Where are we at? At the bottom of Shoreline Park Drive and Northwest 117th. It is a public walkway down to the park but it’s kind of a little secret.
Shhh. Don’t tell anybody.
[Sandra] What are you pointing at?
I’m pointing at this because everybody needs to obey the rules in these parks.
[Sandra] That true. They do need to obey the rules. I got to get way down here so we can see what the rules are. You got your walking stick? What are we doing here?
I do. Well, it’s not really a hiking trail, but I found this and it’s kind of cool.
[Sandra] It is. It reminds me of something from Harry Potter.
[Steve] What’s Harry Potter?
[Sandra] Well, you know, Harry Potter.
[Steve] I’ve never watched those.
[Sandra] Are you serious?
[Steve] Well, Sandra, look at my age.
[Sandra] I know you’re old, but still. But still I tell you. So this is a fabulous trail. So Carkeek is pretty cool because it’s got awesome picnic areas that you can reserve. And we have the upper field here with lots of picnic tables. And then of course the Sound is calling us. So we are at the top of the overpass here. And, unfortunately, there won’t be any trains coming by. We realized as we were walking up here that they’re actually working on the railroad tracks. So that’s a bummer because that would have been super, super cool. I was pretty stoked about getting a train going by but, hey, c’est la vie.
Hey, we got great views though. Puget Sound, the Olympics, the beach. It’s gorgeous.
Yeah.
[Sandra] This is just a fun beach to come to. You can just hear all the kids laughing and you know the dogs barking.
Yep.
[Sandra] I don’t hear any seals barking. I guess they’re at the locks. You know, I have to say when it is sunny and beautiful in Seattle, there is nothing more spectacular. What do you say, Steve?
I say, I agree with that dog. I love Carkeek Park. I love the beach. I love the water. I love all of the Olympic mountains that you can see out here. Although not that clear today. I liked that overhead where you can cross the railroad tracks and get right down to the beach.
[Sandra] Oh, it’s so cool when trains are coming.
[Steve] Yeah, it is. Hey everybody. We hope you loved our little tour a Broadview today. We hope you enjoyed the scenery and the views and the mountains and the Sound and everything else that Broadview has to offer. So if you’re ever thinking about moving to this neighborhood, give us a ring. Give us a shout. We are always here to help out.
Thanks so much, everybody.
