Just Sold in Phinney Ridge!

Selling a home is often an emotional journey for Sellers. Even though the sale may mean moving on to something better, it can still be fraught with emotion. The sale of this sweet Phinney Ridge Craftsman was definitely tough for our Seller. This home had been her first purchase as a young first-time home buyer. The home at the time was a fixer, but it had great bones, and it was what she could afford. Over the years Sarah restored this home back to the charming home it was always meant to be. She eventually bought a bigger home in the neighborhood and kept this one as a rental. It was a great rental for her and was easy to manage. Fast forward to 2022, she was presented with the opportunity to purchase an investment property on Whidbey Island. She had a long-term vision for the island property and couldn’t pass up the chance to fulfil this dream. But moving forward with this new property meant selling the home she literally had blood, sweat and tears in.

Buyers and Sellers often tell us that at times, they felt that Steve and I were like counselors guiding them through the emotional peaks and valleys of buying and selling real estate. To be a good Realtor, we do at times have to put on our β€œcounselor” hat and help clients through some difficult decisions. Because this sale was so emotional for Sarah, we had an understanding that anytime she was feeling stressed about either property, she just needed to call me, so that I could get her in a better mindset. Often, she simply needed to talk through a quick issue. However, I always wanted to make sure we ended our call with laughter. As we all know, laughter really is the best medicine. It almost instantly releases stress. I would usually share a cute little story about one of our birds. As a fellow animal lover, Sarah and I always had plenty of animal stories to share.

On the day of closing, I asked Sarah how she was feeling and if this day was bitter-sweet for her. To my very pleasant surprise, she said it wasn’t. She was in a place where she felt good about it. She hoped the buyers would make lots of happy memories in the home, just as she had.
