2021 Real Estate Market Projections

2021 Real Estate Market Projections

It can feel like the media is only ever showing us doom and gloom. That is probably because bad news gets views. Negative media coverage reports show that negative words such as “bad,” or “worst,” and “never” are 30% more effective at catching people’s attention as opposed to positive.

This could be why, whenever you come across stories about the real estate market, you’ll read headlines like:

“Are we heading into a bad recession or crash?!”
“Could your home be losing value?!” or
“Is it possible that you’ll never find an affordable home?!”

With news like that, it’s no wonder people are getting disheartened. Instead, we want to provide you with the best information we can, from actual experts in the Real Estate Market.

Yes! Even if it’s positive news!

So far, with the way things are trending, the 2021 Real Estate Market appears to be heading in a positive direction. NW Seattle continues to be a hot Seller’s Market and with more and more homes being listed each day, it’s going to get easier out there for Buyers too!

We’re talking about what to expect in the real estate market in 2021. Are we going to see a crash? Hi, I’m Steve Hill with Sandra Brenner of the Brenner Hill team at Windermere. I don’t know about you but I found the media to inflate the truth and quite frankly, use negative headlines to get more views.

But our top story tonight, the financial impact of this pandemic. More than 150,000 jobs lost…

But let’s look at projections for 2021 from people that have their pulse on the market and are experts in the real estate industry. Low interest rates are an indicator of a strong housing market. According to Freddie Mac they project interest rates to remain low. In fact, lower than what we’ve seen in the past five years. They’re projecting interest rates to be in the low threes for the remainder of the year.

Also, chief economist of realtor.com Danielle Hale states, “We expect home sales in 2021 to come in at 7% above 2020 levels.” Also, all the major servicers like Fannie Mae the Mortgage Bankers Association, and more, are forecasting an increase in home prices in 2021. Not as significant of an increase as previous years, but still an increase.

Also, according to Lawrence Yun, Chief Economist for the National Association of Realtors states, “This winter may be one of the best winters for sales activity on a winter to winter comparison. This could be one of the best breakout years just based on the fact that pending contracts are at such a high level.”

I hope this information is helpful to you, giving you some insight as to what 2021 may bring. For more information, feel free to call us here at the Brenner Hill team. We are Steve and Sandra, your greater Seattle real estate experts. Elevated service, elevated results.
